Home Décor trends for 2019

Whether you are looking to sell your house or just want a change in your home décor, read through the following recommendations to infuse some light and color into your home.

Natural elements

2018 was all about tech-obsessed home design, 2019 however sees home décor moving towards nature-inspired materials like stone, concrete, copper and plant-derived designs. You are likely to see a lot more tables made from petrified wood, stools covered in coconut shell beads and statement art made from stone. These elements will help bring an organic and serene ambiance to any space while reflecting the world around your home.

Velvet’s back with a bang!

Velvet was once considered old fashioned and stuffy but in 2019 is synonymous with luxury. Designers predict that velvet décor will be 2019’s most sought after home décor trends.

Flower power in the home

Floral patterns have always had a place in home décor, 2019 however is expected to reinvent this trend. Decorators are predicting that unexpected proportions and bold colors will be used to express this décor pattern.

Copper hued and brass imbued

While 2018 saw rose gold dominating the metallic scene, for 2019 expect to see less rose gold and more copper accents, along with a mixture of other metals. With its trendy ruby and amber temper, copper will bring in a fresh and funky feel in 2019.

2019 is also the year we say goodbye to stainless steel and welcome brass tones into the home. Brass is a modern alternative to the oft-misused steel accents.

Bold and beautiful

Gone is the age of soft colors and pastel shades. In 2019, think bold for color. Designers advice looking for radical reds, daring yellows and fearless violets to make your more muted furnishing pop.

Black and white

A truly timeless design trend, black and white furnishings will want to be on your list of trends to incorporate into your home’s decor this 2019. The visual contrast of black and white will provide a sense of balance and boldness to your home’s space.

Millennial pink is here to stay.

Splashes of this dusty shade showed up prominently on the home décor scene in 2018, and in 2019 is staying put. Pink has long been said to have a relaxing effect, so this design trend shouldn’t come as a surprise. Get prepared to incorporate this hue in creative and unique ways, as an easy way to update any space.

Geometric patterns

Like floral patterns and brass decor, geometric patterns are not new. Yet for the 2019 geometric patterns are expected to become more daring. Colors will be bolder with oversized patterns. This is a trend that will help make a dramatic statement in any room.

Mixed and matched furniture

Forget the quintessential living room set; matching furniture is now considered monotonous and “meh” in general. Make your furniture a mirror of your personal style. Collect furniture as you go along and mix and match pieces as your fancy suits you; it’s always chic to be unashamedly original.

Painted ceilings

In 2019, color will not be reserved for the four walls of your home. 2019 is the year to start taking notice of that long-neglected fifth wall: the ceiling. Designers are predicting usage of wallpaper, molding and bold paint colors to bring that unexpected wow factor.
